Dog Fences: Fencing For Pet Safety
Whether you are a first time pet owner, or someone who knows that, though dogs are a part of the family, they’re not humans with special needs, a dog fence is an important part of responsible dog ownership. There are several things to consider before you decide what choice in dog fences will work best for you and your dog:
Another draw back to invisible dog fences, is the fact that, while they can train dogs to stay inside their own territory, any dog or animal not wearing a receiver equipped collar, will not be kept outside your dog’s area. If there are wild animals or larger aggressive dogs nearby, your pet will not be safe without supervision even if you have installed wireless fencing for your dog. Another consideration is that if your dog is very aggressive or feels threatened, they may go past the barrier of an invisable fence. A dog will then be afraid to go back into their own yard, and are likely to wander off as a result.
While invisible dog fences do keep your dog inside, in the absence of extenuating circumstances, they are not the same as a secure dog kennel or fence, and they will not keep out the threat presented by other animals that may get into your yard. Further, they will not present any type of a barrier to bring attention to someone trying to nab your pet.
As a result, traditional fixed fences that keep out unwanted guests and animals while keeping your dog inside, are vastly preferable to wireless fencing for dogs.
