Dressed Up and Out of the House: Dog Accessories

Whether you are a new canine enthusiast or one of the multitudes who have long worshipped old faithful, dog accessories have become all the rage. When you think about a dog accessory, visions of Spot in Victoria’s Secret dog accessories may immediately spring to mind. Though some of the celebrities with canine carry totes or doggies in motorcycle jackets may be the first thing you think of, and dog clothes and accessories are one facet of this booming industry, you may choose not to dress your dog in Burberry dog accessories. If you love your pooch, and designer dog accessories are not what you have in mind, please remember that accessories for dogs are all the things your pet needs from day to.

If you travel, accessories for dogs may be necessities in order for your pet to travel safely. The good news is there are dog car accessories available for canine companions of all shapes and sizes. Small dog accessories are often different from the ones larger dogs might need. Though large dogs can be inside dogs too, usually they need at least some time outside, and require outdoor feeders, watering bowls, and dog houses to provide protection from rain, cold, and even heat.

Service dog accessories should be appropriate for the jobs the dogs perform. Whether your service dog is trained for the handicapped, trained to herd cattle, or a rescue dog, there are many needs that trainers will go over with you, before you buy your dog.

When looking for supplies for a pet, dog accessories can be confusing. Try to take into consideration the size of your pet, the age of your pet, and any special needs your dog might have. Especially aged dogs require extra protection from the elements. Work dogs might require extra feed, water, and insect treatments than an inside dog, while they might require less exercise outside work hours.

Here are some of the puppy accessories the new addition to your family will need. Puppies need something soft and reassuring to calm them during sleeping hours. If your puppy has bonded with you and is content to be with you, taking a t-shirt of other object of your clothing, and wrapping it around a warm water bottle (never use a heating pad) or a stuffed baby toy with the heartbeat sound, or a ticking clock next to their sleeping crate. Sleeping crates may contain a cushioned, furry pet bed, if you make sure it is a tight fit. The object is to give the puppy only the space it needs to sleep, increasing size as the puppy grows, so it feels secure and as if it is still snuggled with its brothers and sisters. Sleep time is the one time your puppy is likely to have an accident that you can’t stop.

Crate training is a proven method for house training. Putting your puppy in his crate is not mean! In fact, it allows your puppy to feel secure while you are gone, in a place all his own. Puppies need chew toys, so they may be gently corrected when they chew things they shouldn’t, by replacing the object with a more appropriate substitute.

Your dog accessories are not just doggie clothing! All the things your canine companion needs are dog accessories!
